Custom Pillow Boxes for Washington Brands
Washington sends us more coffee packaging than any other state. Roasters, drip-bag producers and sample-set programs, all of them working to a set of conventions that are quite specific to specialty coffee — origin first, roast date printed rather than a best-before, and a preference for uncoated stocks that look like the trade they are in.
The single most common technical issue is coding. A roast date has to be applied after the box is made, and a fully laminated panel will not reliably accept it.
Quote for delivery to Washington
Production and transit quoted as one date, so you can plan around it rather than around a production time.
What specialty buyers read, in order
- Origin — country, region, and the farm or cooperative if you have it
- Process — washed, natural, honey, anaerobic
- Roast level, stated plainly rather than as a graphic scale
- Tasting notes, kept to three or four words
- Roast date, which matters more than a best-before in this category
The box is not the freshness barrier
Coffee stales through oxygen exposure and paperboard does nothing about it. The sealed sachet or valve bag is the barrier; the box is presentation and protection.
That is liberating rather than limiting — it means the box can be an uncoated kraft carton with a beautiful one-color print, which is what most roasters want anyway. The detail is on our coffee packaging page.

View optionsSupplying Washington: common questions
Where does the roast date go?
On an uncoated or coatable panel, sized generously enough that a slightly misaligned code still lands inside it. A laminated surface will not take most inline coders.
Will the box keep coffee fresh?
No. The sealed inner does that. Spending on a heavier coated board in the hope of extending freshness is money in the wrong place.
What stock suits specialty coffee?
Uncoated or kraft, printed in one or two colors. It matches the category conventions and takes a roast-date code without a coating fight.
How do I package a tasting set?
A divided interior with each origin in a named position. Without it, a set of identical sachets is confusing rather than premium.
Do you have a Washington roastery partner?
No. We supply Washington roasters with packaging and ship to Washington addresses; we do not operate or partner with premises in the state.
