Custom Pillow Boxes for Florida Brands
Florida is the one US state where humidity, not just heat, changes what we specify. Paperboard exchanges moisture with the air around it, and in a warehouse without climate control a flat-packed carton can take up enough moisture to lose stiffness and to bow once folded. It is the most common Florida-specific problem we are asked to solve.
The other consistent thread is bilingual packaging. A significant part of the state's retail and beauty distribution sells into Spanish-speaking markets, and a pack carrying two languages needs the panel planned for it before the front is designed rather than after.

Managing humidity in a flat-packed carton
-
Store flat stock sealed
Boxes arrive shrink-wrapped in pallet quantities for a reason. Opening a whole pallet into an unconditioned store room is where the trouble starts.
-
Specify a heavier board where storage is uncontrolled
It does not stop moisture uptake, but it tolerates more of it before the pack visibly loses shape.
-
Consider a coating
A laminate slows moisture exchange considerably. It costs recyclability, which is a trade-off worth making deliberately.
-
Order more often, in smaller quantities
Where storage is the problem, holding less stock for less time solves more than any board specification.
Bilingual panel planning
- Get the Spanish copy at the same time as the English, not afterward
- Spanish typically runs longer than English — design to the longer version
- Decide the arrangement early: side by side, stacked, or split across panels
- Set one minimum type size and hold both languages to it
- Leave the front panel to do one job once the obligations are placed

Why do my boxes lose their shape in storage?
Almost certainly moisture uptake from humid, unconditioned storage. Keeping flat stock sealed until it is used solves most of it; a heavier board or a laminate helps where that is not practical.
Can you print bilingual English and Spanish packaging?
Yes. Send both languages at the same time — Spanish generally runs longer, and the layout has to be built around the longer version rather than adapted to it.
Does humidity affect the printing itself?
Not the finished print. It affects the board, which affects how the pack folds and holds shape, which is what customers actually notice.
What packaging suits tourism and gift retail?
Small formats that sell as impulse and souvenir purchases — keychains, confectionery and small bath products. A common box with a variable printed element handles a wide range of designs economically.
Do you have a Florida location?
No. We serve Florida customers and ship to Florida addresses; we do not operate premises in the state.
