Coiled or flat
A coiled strap fits a compact, near-square box and looks like a product in a display. A flat strap needs an elongated box and shows the whole piece at once, which is better for judging length and finish.
Leather straps take a set from being coiled for a long period, so for higher-value leather we normally recommend flat. Silicone and nylon are unaffected and coil happily.
The buckle problem
A buckle is the thickest part of a strap by a considerable margin, and in a shallow box it presses into the face and shows as a bulge — or worse, creases the board from the inside.
The fix is either a recess in the insert card that the buckle drops into, or a box depth set by the buckle rather than by the strap. The first is neater and keeps the pack slim; the second is simpler and cheaper.

Yes, and it should. Print the size as a variable element on a common design rather than creating separate artwork for each width.
Will a metal bracelet fit this format?
Yes, with a deeper profile and a fixed position so it cannot shift. Metal is heavy for its size, so the board weight needs to reflect that.
Is a hang hole worth adding?
For accessory retail and market stalls, yes. It needs reinforcement at the punch and must be designed into the die from the start.
Can the box hold a spring bar tool as well as the strap?
Yes, with a channel or a small recess in the insert. It is a common addition and it uses very little of the internal depth.
Will a leather strap mark the box?
A newly finished leather can transfer a little dye onto an uncoated interior in warm conditions. A coated inner face or a tissue interleaf prevents it.
How do I package straps sold as a multi-pack?
A divided interior with a position per strap, and the lug width printed against each. Without the positions a multi-pack opens as a pile rather than a set.
Can the box show the strap without opening it?
A window sized to the strap body works well and lets buyers judge the material and color. Keep the buckle out of the aperture so the view is of the leather, not the hardware.
