Clear Pillow Boxes
A clear pillow box removes the argument between showing the product and branding the pack — you get the product on display and the branding goes on as a printed band, a sticker or a spot-printed panel. For confectionery, wedding favors and anything colorful, it is often the strongest merchandising choice available at this size.
We supply these in PET as standard. PET is the clearer and more stable of the two common films, it does not yellow the way older PVC stock can, and it is more widely accepted in recycling streams. PVC remains available where a particular gauge or price point calls for it.

Printing on a transparent box
Ink on clear film behaves nothing like ink on board. There is no white beneath it, so every color is effectively a glaze — a red prints as a translucent red, and whatever is inside the box shows through it. Where you need a color to read solid, we lay an opaque white behind it, exactly as we would on brown kraft.
Most clear pillow boxes are printed sparingly on purpose: a logo in white or a single metallic, top and bottom, with the rest left open. That keeps the product as the hero, which was the point of choosing clear in the first place.

Adding branding without losing the view
The neatest solution is usually a printed board band wrapped around the waist of the clear box. It carries your full artwork, ingredient copy and barcode, costs very little, and can be changed for a seasonal range without reordering the boxes themselves.
Ribbon with a printed tag does the same job at a smaller scale, and is why clear boxes and ribbon appear together so often in favor work. Both routes are quoted alongside the box.

Do clear pillow boxes hold their shape as well as board?
PET is springier than paperboard, so the pack feels different in the hand — it flexes and returns rather than creasing. At the right gauge it holds the pillow shape reliably; too thin and the ends will not stay tucked.
Can I print full color on a clear box?
You can, but every color will be translucent unless it is backed with an opaque white. In practice full-coverage printing defeats the purpose of a clear pack, so most designs use one or two spot colors.
Will the box scratch in transit?
Clear film shows surface scuffing more than board does. If the packs are shipped loose in a carton, a light interleaf or polybag protects the faces; we will raise it if your quantity and packing method make it likely.
Are clear pillow boxes recyclable?
PET is recyclable in principle and accepted in many curbside streams, though acceptance varies by local authority in every market we serve. We will not print a recycling claim on the pack that we cannot substantiate for your market.
Can you supply clear boxes with a printed insert card?
Yes — a printed card behind the product gives you a colored backdrop and a place for copy while keeping the front view open. It is a common combination for jewelry and small gifts.
What is the alternative if I want visibility but not plastic?
A board box with a die-cut window gives you a defined view of the product with a paper-based structure. That option is set out on our window pillow boxes page.
Do clear boxes come pre-folded?
They ship flat like board, and PET has more spring than paperboard so it takes a firmer press to set the crease. Allow slightly longer per box when you are assembling a large batch by hand.
Will static make the boxes cling together?
PET can pick up a static charge, particularly in dry conditions, and flat blanks then stick to each other. An anti-static treatment is available and is worth specifying if your team is packing at volume.
Can a clear box carry a barcode?
Not printed directly with any reliability — a scanner needs contrast, and ink on clear film is translucent. Put the barcode on an applied label or a printed belly band, both of which we quote alongside the box.
How does clear film behave in heat?
PET holds its shape well at normal retail and transit temperatures. In a hot vehicle it becomes more flexible and a tightly packed carton can deform the boxes, so avoid packing them under compression in summer.
