Custom Pillow Boxes for New York Brands

New York packaging work is dominated by two trades: jewelry and fashion accessories. Both are categories where the box is expected to look worth keeping, and where the customer inspects it closely enough that a white crease on a black board is noticed.

There is a second, less obvious New York constraint — space. Retail square footage in the state, and particularly in the city, is expensive enough that stockrooms are small. A pack that ships and stores flat rather than pre-formed is not a nicety here; it is a purchasing criterion.

What jewelry retailers ask us for

  • A dyed-through board so the cut edge and crease stay colored
  • An insert card that presents the piece flat rather than storing it loose
  • A restrained foil mark rather than a printed panel
  • A box small enough that the piece does not look lost inside it
  • Something that folds flat, because the stockroom is the size it is

Why the crease matters more than the print

On a jewelry counter, the customer holds the box. That is a different level of scrutiny from a shelf pack seen at arm's length, and it is why a black box printed onto white board disappoints: every fold shows a white line.

A dyed-through board carries the pigment through the sheet and stays black at every cut. It costs more, and on a pack the customer inspects it is the difference between looking expensive and looking like it is trying to. The distinction is set out on our black board page.

Supplying New York: common questions

Why do my black jewelry boxes show white at the folds?

Because the black is printed over white board and creasing breaks the ink film. A dyed-through black board removes the problem entirely and is worth the premium on a pack customers handle.

How small can a jewelry box be?

Small, but around two inches across the curved tuck starts to become unreliable on standard board. Below that we specify a lighter stock and a wider tuck radius.

Do the boxes arrive assembled?

They ship flat and fold by hand in seconds, which is the main reason they suit small stockrooms. A thousand boxes takes a fraction of the space a pre-formed carton would.

Can you supply insert cards for chains and studs?

Yes, and we quote them with the box because the card has to be cut to the finished internal size rather than the flat dieline dimension.

Do you have a New York showroom?

No. We supply New York customers and ship to New York addresses; we do not operate premises in the state.
