Wedding favor boxes are small, low-volume and unusually exacting. Nobody inspects a soap carton closely; every guest at a wedding picks up a favor box, reads the name on it and often keeps it. The tolerance for a misaligned foil or a typo in a name is effectively zero.
They are also the format where personalization is most often requested — individual guest names, table numbers, a date, a monogram. That is a variable-data print, which is entirely routine, but it changes how artwork is supplied and how proofing works.

How personalization actually works
Variable-data printing takes a fixed design and changes one element — a name, a number, a date — for each box. You supply a spreadsheet, one row per box, and the press substitutes the field as it runs.
The two things that matter are the accuracy of your list and the length of the longest entry. A name field designed around "Anna" and then asked to hold "Christopher and Alexandra" will either shrink to illegibility or overflow. We set the field to the longest entry on your list, which is why we ask for the final list before the layout is fixed rather than after.

Palette and stock
Wedding palettes have moved decisively toward muted, slightly gray-toned colors — dusty rose, sage, eucalyptus, oat, and a soft navy. These read best on an uncoated stock, which has a paper quality that a laminated coated board cannot imitate.
Uncoated also takes a blind deboss beautifully, and a debossed monogram on a muted board is both cheaper and more restrained than a foil one. It is worth seeing both on a sample before deciding.

Can you print a different name on every box?
Yes, through variable-data printing. Supply a spreadsheet with one row per box and we substitute the name as the job runs. Send the final list before the layout is fixed so the field is sized to your longest entry.
How many spare boxes should I order?
Around ten per cent over your final guest count. Numbers change, boxes get damaged in setup, and on a personalized run there is no quick way to add one.
Is foil or deboss better for a monogram?
Foil is brighter and more traditional; a blind deboss is quieter, cheaper and often more contemporary on an uncoated stock. We can show you both on the actual board.
Can I order a small quantity?
Yes. Small runs are normal in this category. The main effect of a small quantity is that fixed costs such as foil dies carry more weight per box, so we will suggest where to simplify if budget matters.
What colors are couples choosing?

Do you supply the boxes assembled?
They ship flat and fold in seconds, which is usually what couples want — assembling favors is a normal part of wedding preparation and flat boxes are far easier to transport.
How long before the wedding should favor boxes be ordered?
Allow for a proofing round on anything personalized, plus time to assemble them yourself. Most couples underestimate the assembly rather than the production, particularly with ribbon.
Can guest names be printed in a script typeface?
Yes, though very light scripts at small sizes lose detail. We will flag it if the typeface and size you have chosen will not hold at the printed scale.
How long does it take to assemble a hundred favor boxes?
Folding is quick — a few minutes for a hundred. Ribbon and filling are what take the time, typically an evening for a hundred boxes with two people.
Can you deliver favor boxes to a venue?
We deliver to whatever address you give us. A venue is often the wrong choice — deliveries arrive before anyone is there to receive them, and boxes are easier to assemble at home.
