Custom Pillow Boxes in Melbourne

Melbourne briefs are the most design-conscious we receive from Australia. Coffee roasters, independent food producers, small beauty brands and makers, most of them arriving with a clear aesthetic and a preference for restraint — uncoated stock, one or two colors, no unnecessary finishing.

Coffee is the largest single category, and it brings one recurring technical issue: a roast date has to be applied after the box is made, and a laminated panel will not reliably accept the code.

Getting a coffee pack right

  • Lead with origin, then process, then roast level
  • Leave an uncoated or coatable panel for the roast date
  • Keep tasting notes to three or four words
  • Put the money in the sealed inner, not in a heavier box
  • Uncoated kraft suits the category and takes a code cleanly

Restraint is cheaper as well as better here

A single dark ink on an uncoated stock is both what most Melbourne briefs want aesthetically and the cheapest branded pack we make. There is one plate rather than four and no lamination process.

The constraint is that pale colors do not work over brown board without an opaque white beneath. If your palette is soft, a bleached kraft keeps the paper character with a printable ground.

Supplying Melbourne: common questions

Where does the roast date go?

On an uncoated or coatable panel sized generously enough that a slightly misaligned code still lands inside it. A laminate resists most inline coders.

Will the box keep coffee fresh?

No. The sealed sachet or valve bag is the barrier; paperboard is not. Spend on the inner and let the box do presentation.

Why did my pale colors print muddy on kraft?

There is no white beneath the ink. An opaque white base or a bleached kraft stock fixes it.

Is one color enough?

For illustration and line work, usually — and it looks more considered than four colors used timidly. It is also the cheapest option.

Do you have a Melbourne facility?

No. We supply Melbourne brands and ship to Melbourne addresses; we do not operate premises in the city.
